Rebrief is made by one small team. Mail goes to a person, not a queue, and most questions are already answered below.
Say which version of Rebrief and which version of macOS you are on. Both are in Settings, About. Describe what happened and include only the files or screenshots you want support to review.
What you need

- 15 or later
- Mac
- Apple Silicon. There is no Intel build.
- Disk
- About 3.1 GB for speech recognition and 208 MB for the meeting index. Meeting notes and Ask need another 3 or 6.8 GB, depending on your Mac.
- Network
- Needed for model downloads. Limited usage analytics also uses it unless switched off.
Common problems
Recording did not start on its own
Automatic recording is off until you switch it on during setup, and it starts only when one app is using your microphone and your speakers at the same time. A call you are only listening to will not trigger it. You can always start and stop a recording yourself from the menu bar.
The other side was not recorded
Rebrief needs permission to record what your Mac plays. macOS asks for this the first time, and if it was declined the recording will have your microphone only. Grant it again in System Settings, Privacy and Security, Screen and System Audio Recording.
There are no notes, only a transcript
Note taking needs Apple Silicon and a one-time model download. Until the model has finished downloading, meetings are recorded and transcribed as normal and the notes appear once it is there.
The transcript is in the wrong language
Whisper large-v3 supports 99 languages and detects them automatically while transcribing each separately recorded side of the call. Its accuracy varies by language and recording quality.
A recording stopped at 15 minutes
That is the free cap. The recording stops cleanly at 15 minutes and is saved, transcribed and exportable in full. One purchase removes the cap.
I want my meetings out of Rebrief
Every meeting is a folder on your disk you can open in Finder. Transcripts export as Markdown, plain text, SRT or WebVTT, meeting notes copy as Markdown, and both audio tracks can be saved anywhere you like. Deleting a meeting deletes its folder.
Privacy
Your audio, transcripts and notes stay on your Mac. Rebrief uses limited pseudonymous usage analytics unless you switch it off. The privacy policy explains every category of information and service provider involved.
